Looking forward to April 18-24, 2008

Looks like great faire weather for the whole country. Only Georgia may have a bit of rain and that only on Saturday morning like last weekend

April 18 & 19

LSU Alexandria annual Renaissance Festival begins at 2 p.m. on April 18 and at 10 a.m. on April 19 on the LSU campus in Alexandria, Louisiana. The Festival, established in 2001, features musicians, dancers, choral groups, actors, historical re-enactments and two troops of belly dancers. The Friends of Bolton Library book sale takes place at the festival, and vendors of arts and crafts, food, and other items will be present April 19. The public is invited, and the event is free.

April 18 – 20

Pyrates invade New Orleans, Louisiana, this weekend for PyrateCon 2008. There’ll be cast members from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, shows, music, and … most importantly … rum!

April 19

Fells Point Privateer Day & Pirate Invasion encourages visitors get in to the spirit of the times by coming out as whoever they think they would have been 200 years ago. In good maritime tradition, events go on, rain or shine, along the waterfront at Thames Street and Broadway. Activities include a Living History Camp and 7 tall ships offering free on board tours, plus a few offering paid cruises. Fells Point is a neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. No weapons allowed.

April 19 & 20

The Ardmore Renaissance Faire is this weekend. This is the 6th year Ardmore, located just off I-65 at the Alabama/Tennessee state line, has produced the show. Patrons are encouraged to wear costumes and peace-tied period weapons are welcome.

For the third weekend of the Renaissance Pleasure Faire (Southern) print out discount coupons to save $2.50 off the adult ticket price.

Vacaville Medieval Fantasy Festival is a free family event in downtown Vacaville, California. This year they have declared “Plague Take The Rats” featuring “Rat-a-pult” contests with prizes for best rat costume and furthest distance launched.

Georgia Renaissance Festival’s second weekend will be Senior’s Two-for-One weekend. The deal is only available onsite at the box office.

Great Plains Renaissance Festival in Wichita, Kansas, is offering free kids tickets (normally $3 for 12 and under) at all advance purchase locations. Tribal Circus Rhapsoday got a recommendation from a friend as a good show. Let me know what you think.

Dragon Days is a new Renaissance faire held at Hidden Hollow Park in Cookeville, Tennessee. Events include a pageant to name the King and Queen of Faire.

Four Winds Renaissance Faire draws to a close this weekend in Troup, Texas. Watch as the Knights of Four Winds celebrate the splendor of chivalrous combat twice daily. Historical re-enactment groups from several states will come together to recreate the 1648 War of Independence between Polish nobles and their mercenary troops and the Ukranian Kozak (Cossack) troops.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival, Waxahachie, Texas holds their 11th annual Scarborough Highland Games. Over a hundred contestants will throw stones, toss hammers and weights, throw sheafs, and toss cabers near the Joust Field. Stop by and cheer on your favorite highlander. Dig out your plaids and polish up your brogue for this weekend when everyone is Scottish!
