The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

Tennessee Renaissance Festival welcomes RenaissanceFestival.com

“Have you met?” will return next week but, for now, just a short recap of FaireNews’ attendance of the final weekend of the Tennessee Renaissance Festival as part of the RenaissanceFestival.com RenDezvous and ‘Ette Invasion. I posted a short recap of the events of Friday night and Saturday a couple of days ago in “RenaissanceFestival.com members invade Tn Ren Fest” and will continue here.

Saturday night, Clan M’Crack held a pool party at the Motel 6, dubbed ‘Ette Central for the weekend, with all members invited. We walked over late, only to find that the party had come to an end due to the pool closing. Hope everyone had a good time.

Sunday morning’s Meet-n-Greet outside the gates included mimosas and prize raffles. The auction of three bottles of Ménage à Trois, a red wine, in honor of the 3rd ‘Ette Invasion, dubbed Ménage ‘Ette Trois, raised another $90 for RESCU.

The FaireNews crew was not present for the event as we prepared for the handfasting ceremony at noon. They tell me it was beautiful, I can only tell you it was emotional from the moment I arrived at the gate of Covington Glen. Having our fairemily with us as we joined our lives for eternity was a blessing and we thank each and every one of you who was with us, whether physically or in spirit.

Late Sunday afternoon, a child became separated from his mother. We happened to be in a friendly conversation with a police officer and a merchant friend when the mother approached and asked for assistance. Word was put out to the Invaders and spread quickly with search parties heading off in every direction. The child was found in short order and returned safely to his mother. Sunday evening, the group Invaded Murfreesboro’s Chef Wang with 77 in attendance. The staff moved us in to one side of the facility and we laughed and ate and sang.

Monday began cloudy but that didn’t stop the remaining members from heading for Covington Glen again. Some came dressed in preparation for returning to the mundane world, others dressed to play, some to say a quick goodbye, and some to enjoy the day. Oops, didn’t mean to rhyme, it just slips out sometimes. Around 2:30, the threatened thunderstorms rolled in and the skies opened up with a drenching rain. We toughed it out for a while but, when the rain had soaked in enough that the ground became slick around 4:30, we decided to call it a day.

The Invasion was a huge success, by last count from Lady Ettie we had raised over $1600 for RESCU, some have made it home safely already, others travel today. Pictures have begun appearing over on the RenaissanceFestival.com site.

Join us some time and … we’ll see you at Faire!!
