Looking Back at January 21 – 27, 2007
FaireNews.com was onsite this past weekend for the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire in Gainesville, Florida. Light rain kept the crowds small on Saturday but Sunday’s bright clear weather resulted in a good turnout. Parking was a bit of a challenge, the ground having been left slick by the rain and early comers relegated to the furthest parking areas. I’d recommend a re-thinking on that last part, it seems totally unfair. This was my first chance to see The New Minstrel Revue and I enjoyed them immensely, purchasing their new CD to continue listening on the way home. We attended several performances by The Thieves’ Guild on the chess board and were serenaded by Giacomo the Jester and Craig of Farrington. There was plenty of shopping to be done, though I was disappointed to find several merchants missing this year. I’ll hope to see them return to future events. We’ll be back out this coming weekend, hope to see you at Faire!
Scarlet’s Mid-Winter Renaissance Festivalwas also held this past weekend. Reviews by those who attended indicate the faire was small but enjoyable with accolades for the The Bilge Pumps, A Mirage Belly Dance Company, and FoxMoon Productions’ Merfolk. CongaRats to the crew that put this faire on!
