Faire Fun for July 4-14, 2008

California

The Labryinth of Jareth Fantasy Masquerade Ball is this weekend at the Henry Ford Music Box Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. Saturday night’s tickets are sold out but Friday’s tickets are still available on the web site. This is a participation event and costumes or formal wear are required for admission to the masquerade.

Come out to the Wine Revelry this weekend at the Colorado Renaissance Festival and watch the Wine Stomp Competition before you wander by the Dancing Bear Pub for a sampling of some fine vintages from around the country. Catch one of the sets by Cast in Bronze for a glimpse at America’s only traveling carillon. Area King Soopers locations are still the location to pick up discount tickets. Discount coupons may still be available at participating Wendy’s and Diamond Shamrock Corner Stores.

Connecticut

The Southern Connecticut Renaissance Festival opens this Friday at Warsaw Park in Ansonia. Open Friday evening and each day til 10pm, with discount ticket prices for those arriving after 6pm. Stop by and see The Harper and The Minstrel as they perform and tell them that we said Hi!

Kentucky

Pyrates will overrun the Kentucky Highlands Renaissance Festival this weekend as the faire hosts a special benefit for the local Blessings in a Backpack program. The first 100 patrons to arrive with a new backpack to donate get free admission. They’ve also been collecting donations for a silent auction, so be sure to ask for details when you get there. Discount tickets are still available if ordered online through the ClickNPrint link on KHRF’s homepage. Michigan

Silver Leaf Renaissance Faire continues this weekend at Kimball Pines Park in Emmett Township with a Highland Fling. Wear your favorite tartan and kick up your heels with special guests Tartan Terrors, appearing this weekend only.

Missouri

White Hart Renaissance Faire ended this past weekened. Mike Springfield shared some of his pictures in his Ozark Photos blog.

New York

Sterling Renaissance Festival begins this weekend for their first season under new ownership. They’ve shuffled the entertainment lineup, keeping some old favorites and bringing in some new acts. It should be interesting to see how it all turns out. Emrys Fleet and Bob DaVinci will both be there, stop by and tell them Hi! If you’ve never seen Manolete or the Aerial Angels, be sure to catch their shows. You can save $1 with discounted advance tickets at area Price Chopper stores. Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, and Military personnel discounts are available with a picture ID for you and one guest.

Ohio

Avaloch is overtaken by a Medieval Fantasy this weekend as Fairies, Unicorns, and Men of Steel join the festivities at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire and Marketplace. Don your best garb and bring your pet to the Royal Pet Procession and Costume Contest. Purchase your tickets at any of a number of outlets and just walk in the gates when you arrive.

The 2nd Annual Pirates of St Marys Festival is Saturday. There’ll be pirates all over the place with games and costume contests.

Utah

The Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire began yesterday and runs through Saturday, July 12th in Cedar City. This is a free event with fun activities for everyone including a Chalk Art Competition. Artists will complete their pieces by noon on Saturday for judging at 2pm. The entertainment schedule includes a falconry demonstration, musicians, magicians, and merchants a plenty.

Washington

The Northwest Renaissance Festival continues this weekend. A $1 discount coupon is on the website. BOWI will be the special guest musicians.

Wisconsin

The final weekend of the Wisconsin Renaissance Festival is upon us and there’ll be Marauders and Mischief abounding. Sir Clisto has made pictures taken last weekend available on his WiFaire site.

Bristol Renaissance Faire continues in Kenosha this weekend with Seniors’ Weekend where two can get in for the price of one, no discount coupon necessary. They’ve also put a discount coupon on the website that you can print and take with you to the box office. Pictures from the first weekend have been loaded to Flickr by a number of people.

Canada

Adam of Sword in the Stone Crafts has shared his pictures (slideshow) taken at last weekend’s Casa Loma Renaissance Faire in Toronto.
