Renaissance Faire News - Sharing the Joy of Faire, one post at a time at FaireNews.com!!

The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

The Russians are coming … to Pennsylvania RenFaire that is!

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire has released a peek at this year’s storyline.

Her Majesty arrives in the Shire of Mount Hope to enjoy Her annual holiday and a wondrous festival day. At Court, She greets Her people and joviality abounds when, suddenly, an uninvited guest, Ivan IV, the Awesome Tsar of Muscovy and his Black Knights present themselves before the Court.

Ivan steps forward and greets Elizabeth, upsetting the Court by speaking to their Queen as though he were Her equal! The Queen, recognizing a political advantage to peaceful relations with this Ivan the Terrible, halts them in their advance and invites him to play against Her Majesty at the Human Chess Match.

Ivan is flattered by Queen Elizabeth’s gracious welcome, and explains that he has traveled many miles from Muscovy in search of a bride. It is proposed that there be a Pageant of Princesses and Ivan will choose the best of the English ladies to marry.

Queen Bess, not sure whether to be amused or offended by the seemingly unrefined nature of this Tsar, offers a compromise between her visiting dignitary and the ruffled sensibilities of Her English Nobles. A Tournament of Arms, will determine if Ivan will be permitted to hold his Pageant of Princesses or leave England without a bride.

They’ve also announced their weekend themes at PaRF and put up some information about what will happen on those weekend. They are as follows:
