Camlann’s Summer Village Festival – Faire Fun for July 31-August 6, 2008

Washington

Once again, the gates to Somersetshire open to admit visitors to the realm of King Arthur as the Camlann Village Summer Festival continues. Visit the shire to see what a small village would have been like during Chaucer’s time (1367). In this intimate setting, you’ll find music, crafts, and theatre as well as the more active pursuits of knightly combat and swordplay.

Attend the theatre to see Camlann’s troupe of players perform “Sir Ywayn, the Stone & the Well,” a masked dramatization of a 14th century Middle English Arthurian romance. The script is based on a translation of Chrétien de Troyes’ Yvain, written in the 12th century. The first of three parts of the romance, in which Ywayn encounters a mysterious knight who guards a well and magical stone in the forest Brocelianda, is this year’s presentation.
