Louisiana Renaissance Festival in good shape despite Gustav

I received the following from Rick Hight, General Manager of the Louisiana Renaissance Festival, this morning:

Greetings!
We had two trees that are down, but they were not near any structures. There are limbs scattered around, but nothing that can’t be cleaned up pretty quickly. We have a couple fences that blew over, but they were all in need of attention before the storm so they won’t involve any extra time. Several tarps that had closed up buildings are badly torn, but all the buildings seem to be fine. We still don’t have electric to the site, but expect it back in the next couple of days. Our office is open 10am to 4pm Monday-Friday, and our phones service has been restored. We can be reached by email to rick@larf.org or by telephone at 985-429-9992. Aside from the bit of extra cleanup, everything is on track for a great 2008 season!

That’s great news for all of us looking forward to Louisiana’s opening on November 2, 2008. Thanks for letting us know, Rick!
