Bring Statues to Life
Michigan
Have you marveled at the beauty of the living statues at faires around the country? Ever wondered what it’s like to do that kind of performance? Well, now’s your chance to find out.
Barb OBryan, the Statue Lady, is looking for a few new performers but with a twist. The venues will be places like museums, casinos, hotels, and cultural events. This is how Barb explained it:
I’m looking for a few fit, enthusiastic individuals to put on the costumes and bring the statues to life.
You’ve seen the MRF version…these jobs are somewhat different. Some examples of our past venues are Detroit Institute of Art, Detroit Motor City Casino, Backstreet Bar, Clutch Cargos in Pontiac, The Westin Airport Hotel, City of Kalamazoo Art Hop, and the Flint Cultural Center. Each venue necessitates a change in the demeanor of the statue.
Jobs are usually on weekends and evenings, 3 to 5 hours in length with appropriate breaks. Performer must be able to stay in character/costume for 1 hour without a break. Pay will range from $50 to $100 per hour.
Statues are not gender specific but, must be convincing…Females may perform as male statues and vise versa.
Lots of fun and rewarding work.
Barb encouraged anyone interested to contact her via enchantedstatues email.
