Louisiana Renaissance Festival – Faire Fun for October 30 – November 5, 2008

Louisiana

It’s Faire Time in the bayou as the Louisiana Renaissance Festival opens the gates in Hammond. They’ve got multiple ways to save if you buy multiple day tickets and, if you can find a Faire brochure, grab one for the $1 coupon on the back. All the details on tickets can be found at LaRF’s Ticket Page.

Since opening day is right after Halloween, there’s a special Costume Contest planned to find the most interesting costume. Did your costume come together better than you ever thought it could? Here’s your chance to show it to a larger audience, assuming it’s appropriate for a family event. After all, there’ll be many a wee one about the shire.

If you’d like a bit of historical education to toast your day, consider joining Madame Ghislaine de Rouen for the Wine Tastings. Each weekend, she’ll showcase a selection of vintages from a different region of the world. The ticket price includes your admission to faire, a respite to accompany your samplings, and a souvenir.

Lots of our favorite performers begin the winter season in Louisiana so be on the lookout for Craig of Farrington, Kitty Tolson-Carroll and her Birds of the Gauntlet, The Limeybirds, and Paulo Garbanzo. And those are just the ones I’ve interviewed so far, there are lots more. Tell them all we said Hi!

I just talked to Nicole at the Festival office. The brochures are available in the office. Some people have picked them up and distributed them around town. She told me that they had been spotted at Fantastic Sam’s, the UPS Store, and Subway in Hammond. Also at Hometown Hardware in Robert. Another possibility is local gas stations.

Where is the Festival Office located? Is it in Hammond? Maybe we can stop on the way and pick up the brochure+coupons before we go. We have a big family going but we are under the 10 required for a group discount.
