Renaissance Faire News - Sharing the Joy of Faire, one post at a time at FaireNews.com!!

The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

Our BARF Season so far

We’re six weeks through the seven week season and, so far, we’ve attended six days of a possible ten. We know we’ll be back out for closing weekend.

Attending this often would not be possible without a wonderful friend who provides a place to crash and our Season Passes. BA generously opens his home to us each year which is so very much appreciated. The passes have already paid for themselves and now we’re getting in the gate for free.

Midway through the season, our tax refund check arrived and the Ranger purchased his long awaited DSLR. We went from approx 300 pictures per day to upward of 1500 pictures a day. As you can imagine, the selection and post-processing is taking a bit longer than before.

The weather this year has been unseasonably cool. That’s good and bad. The good part is that we’ve had the opportunity to wear some garb pieces that typically aren’t feasible for Florida. We seldom need cloaks, scarves, or gloves. The bad part is that it’s kept people away from the event. It’s just been too cold & damp to want to be out in the open.

Weekend before last (March 13&14), however, was glorious. Queen Katherine Parr debuted a new court gown. Visitors arrived from all over the country for a RenaissanceFestival.com and Clan M’Crack gathering. The theme of the weekend, Shamrocks & Shenanigans, lent it self well to the mischief that ensued.

Have you made it out to the Bay Area Renaissance Festival yet? Come on out for closing weekend and look for us … we’ll see you at Faire!

So how is does the Ranger like the new camera? What did he get?

He’s enjoying it immensely as evidenced by the 9k pictures he’s taken since getting it. We got the Canon 50D. He’s still learning the features and working on his custom settings. Only shooting JPG right now but plans to move to RAW as he feels proficient.
