Renaissance Faire News - Sharing the Joy of Faire, one post at a time at FaireNews.com!!

The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

Looking Back at March 2 – 10, 2008

Working at Faire:

Good luck to all those that interviewed or auditioned for Midsummer Renaissance Festival (Pennsylvania) and Scarborough Renaissance Festival (Texas) this past weekend, I hope your dreams come true. For those in Kentucky, I’ll let you know as soon as I see an update on the audition schedule for the Kentucky Renaissance Festival.

Minnesota Renaissance Festival will hold auditions April 19 & 20, May 17 & May 24 according to a blog entry posted March 2nd on their MySpace page.

The Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire will be held May
9-11 and 16-8, 2008 in Marriott-Slaterville, Utah. They are currently accepting applications from Merchants and Performers.

Faire Updates:

Management of the Acadiana Medieval Faire announced via the website that they’ve cancelled the faire for 2008.

Reports indicate that the Arizona Renaissance Festival, Bay Area Renaissance Festival, and Four Winds Renaissance Festival had good weekends. Hope everyone that was able to attend had a great time.

The FaireNews crew attended the closing weekend of the Florida Renaissance Festival. All the rain moved through Friday night, leaving clouds and a stiff wind on Saturday, and beautiful weather on Sunday. We had a faire virgin with us on Saturday and took her to see all our favorite shows. Fushu Daiko and Barely Balanced were outstanding as always. Other shows that she enjoyed included the Washing Well Wenches and The Duelists. Late in the afternoon, I caught Broon and Moonie’s last show and knew that Sunday the others had to see it.

What I didn’t do that I repeatedly warn you all about was wear my sunscreen. Saturday’s lack resulted in a major case of bodice burn and Sunday found me with a bit of a dilemma. There was no way I was missing last day of faire, but there was also no way I could wear my bodice. So we did a bit of improvisational garbing and Renaissance Escarlata became Victorian Escarlata. Not what I would have wanted but I was determined to attend.

Sunday was a wonderful day of wandering and soaking up faire, seeing friends and spending a bit of time with them, some for the last time until next year. I did get Leinad to the Broon and Moonie show and I was right, he laughed until he cried. The finale of the show did not go smoothly but the guys were great as the crowd cheered them on. Their determination finally overcame the wind and the Double Tongue Fire Transfer trick was a success. They both earned those beers this week. Thanks, Broon and Moonie, for a great ending show.

Broon is lit and preparing to pass to Moonie.

Until next year, the Florida Renaissance Festival has been put to bed. Thanks for a great run and …. we’ll see you at Faire!!
