Renaissance Faire News - Sharing the Joy of Faire, one post at a time at FaireNews.com!!

The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

Looking Back at March 11-17, 2008

Kentucky’s Highland Renaissance Festival rescheduled open auditions for March 29 at the site. More details can be found in the Kentucky Forum thread “Auditions Take Three.”

The Great Lakes Medieval Faire, which runs July 5 through August 10, announced their themed weekend schedule. Looks like fun for all.

Kergan’s Renaissance Guild, a group of friends located in Northern California, portray a Scottish household on progress with the royal court. With eight faires scheduled for the remainder of 2008, they have announced open auditions to fill some slots in the household and guardhouse. Contact information for Emilia Breton is at Kergan’s Renaissance Guild News.

There’s a detailed (and quite humorous) report of one couple’s trip to the Senora Celtic Faire over on RenaissanceFestival.com, good stuff by northbaydreamer aka Lord Lisle.

Reports about the Arizona Renaissance Festival and Four Winds Renaissance Faire indicate that those who attended had a great time this past weekend.

The St Molden’s Invasion of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival on Kilts and Shamrocks weekend was a great success. The rain from Friday night ended, leaving only clouds Saturday morning with a threat of sprinkles. By Saturday afternoon, that was gone and the skies were clear and the breeze fresh. Visitors from such far-flung locales as Texas, Louisiana, Ohio, and New Jersey flew and drove in to join the locals, cast, and merchants for a gathering that totaled more than 35. I never heard a final count and realized while editing pictures that there’s not one of the full group. I need a photoshop guru who’d be interested in helping create one out of the various pictures I’ve got. In the meantime, I’ll share this one, taken Sunday morning, which includes some of the invaders with the Queen and cast.

Sunday's picture of some invaders with the Queen and cast members, all R/F members

The “wearing of the green” was in evidence all over the shire and an abundance of kilted lads kept us delighted. The Queen was quite pleased with the results of her Best Kilt contest as were the invaders who participated in the pickle and banana eating contests. Saturday and Sunday evenings we drank, laughed, ate, and generally enjoyed the company. Monday’s leave taking was down right teary but also held a note of cheer, knowing that many of us would be together again at the 2008 R/F RENDezvous being held Memorial Day Weekend at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival.
