Sherwood Forest Faire in TX starts February 19, 2011
Sherwood Forest Faire, east of Austin TX, begins their 2011 season February 19th and runs through April 3rd. The promoters maintain an active Twitter account @sherwoodfaire and are full of updates. Examples from this week include:
# Sherwood Forest Faire’s 2nd yr begins Feb 19-Apr 3. Followed by national joust tournament on Apr 9th. Celtic Highland Games in Sept 2011!
#Second yr faire hosts dedbob, full contact joust, flushies, mud show, falcon, magic, music, art, drums, gypsies, theatre, and great food.
#Please spread the word that sherwood is hosting a gathering on Jan 15th. Campgrounds open Friday @ 1pm…closes Sunday @ 3pm. Potluck@5pm
#Full contact joust planned for 2011 faire. Seven weekends beginning February 19th. Great music & entertainment
#Sherwood gathering on January 15th. Plan on attending. More info at WWW.sherwoodforestfaire.com
They use the grounds all year round and have camping for participants and attendees. I read a testimonial after the first year that said it “seemed more like a 5th year Faire than a first year event.” It looks like they’re well under way with plans for making their second year even better.
This Faire is definitely on our wish list, though this year is out unless the proverbial ship comes in. Then, who knows? We just might … see you at Faire!
