Looking back at March 17-24, 2008
The Faire News crew didn’t make it to any faires this weekend. Instead, we stayed home recovering from St Molden’s Invasion, got ready for the next two weekends out of town trips, and began planning for the RENdezvous we’ll attend at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival.
The Bay Area Renaissance Festival, Arizona Renaissance Festival, and Four Winds Renaissance Faire went on as scheduled. If the pictures are any indication, everyone had a great time.
Announcements
Silver Kingdom Renaissance Festival in Charlton, Massachusetts, announced their 2008 schedule. Several of the performers included in the “Have you met” articles will appear at this faire.
Late breaking word about the Spring Fairy Festival in Tacoma, Washington, reached us over the weekend. It looks to be a great gathering with well-known fairy artists. The event takes place this coming Saturday (March 29) from noon until 10pm with a Twilight Fairy Costume Ball the final two hours.
A reminder appeared on RenaissanceFestival.com about the Long Island Pirate Festival, June 14 & 15 at the Long Island Maritime Museum in Sayville, New York. Numerous bands specializing in pirate music, including The Brigands, will entertain attendees. There will be historical re-enactment pirate camps, sword fights, black powder cannon demonstrations, and many vendors.
The Virginia Renaissance Faire added a Press Release detailing the contests they will sponsor this year. Two contests, “Shakespeare in Quarter Time” and “Spin-A-Story” only accept submissions from students but the “Elizabethan Poetry” and “Hanging Heraldry” are open to students and adults. The Virginia Renaissance Faire, an all-volunteer effort which emphasizes learning about the Renaissance, takes place at the Lake Ann Winery in Spotsylvania, Virginia, weekends May 17 – June 15, 2008.
