Renaissance Faire News - Sharing the Joy of Faire, one post at a time at FaireNews.com!!

The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

Looking forward to April 4-10, 2008

The University of Oklahoma Medieval Faire, also known as the Norman Medieval Faire, is this weekend only and offers some great entertainment and over 200 artisans. It looks like there’s great weather on tap for the event. The University Film and Video Studies program, in conjunction with the Medieval Faire, is presenting a Medieval Film Series with weekly showings through April 16th.

Final cannon on Sunday will signal the season’s closing at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival in Tampa, Florida. What better way to finish than with a Buccaneer Beer Fest. Pyrates, picaroons, and buccaneers will abound for the homebrew demonstrations and the beer tasting. The Faire News crew will be there with plans to see and do all we can during this final weekend. There’s rain forecast, but that’s never stopped us yet, we just make sure to wear the garb that will withstand getting wet. A $5 ticket discount is being offered at the box office for anyone who’s home port is Plant City or Ft Meyers. Valid ID is required. This will be something to watch for next year, I never noticed the link until today.

The Escondido Renaissance Faire opens Saturday at Felicita Park in Escondido, California. The forecast is calling for mid to high 60s and some clouds. Sounds like perfect weather for court attire, but don’t forget your sunscreen.

The Four Winds Renaissance Faire is throwing a Highland Fling. There’ll be Celtic music and dancing, a Bonny Knees Contest, and a Highland Games competition. Sunny skies are expected, though the ground may be wet from rain predicted for Friday.

The North Carolina Renaissance Faire continues with their Tartan Day Celebration. Let’s hope the rainy weather predicted clears up early. After the first weekend’s wet days, I know everyone is looking for the sun.

The Renaissance Pleasure Faire opens this weekend in Irwindale, California. The entertainer’s list is extensive and includes Broon and Moonie, who we saw for the first time recently. Buy one get one free discount tickets are available and there’s great weather scheduled.

The Sarasota Medieval Spring Faire is this weekend only at their new location on the Sarasota County (Florida) Fairgrounds. Fushu Daiko, Porter and Stout, and the Knights of Valor Joust Team are a few on the entertainment lineup.

And last, but certainly not least, the Scarborough Renaissance Festival gates swing open this weekend for the first of their eight week run. They’ll be celebrating Juniors and Seniors with free admission of up to three children ages of 12 under with a paid adult admission and $10 tickets for those 65+.

Have a great time, whatever you choose to do and … we’ll see you at Faire!!
