Looking forward to April 11-17, 2008
Auditions
Did everyone who was interested get their appointments to audition for the Connecticut Renaissance Faire? Auditions occur on April 12 and 13 and details are on the website.
Open Faires
The Escondido Renaissance Faire’s second, and final, weekend will be sunny and warm.
The Four Winds Renaissance Faire celebrates Renaissance Romance with patrons renewing their vows of love and knights honoring the lovely ladies in attendance at the Royal Jousting Arena. Temperatures in the mid 60s with mild winds should make Court dress very comfortable. Opportunities for wonderful pictures should abound.
The Georgia Renaissance Festival opens this weekend in Fairburn, Georgia, to cool weather. There are showers forecast for Saturday morning, but I doubt that will dissuade those who wait expectantly for the gates of the shire to swing open. The festival is offering a couple of discount ticket deals for this first weekend:
• Buy one get one discount tickets, both at the box office and online
• Friends and Family Combo Pack – Four adult tickets and coupons for drinks, food, rides, and costume rental
This weekend, the North Carolina Renaissance Faire will draw to a close. There’s rain in their forecast again but sometimes that makes for the best time at faire. Get out and enjoy your final opportunity to visit this season.
The Renaissance Pleasure Faire of Southern California, in Irwindale, invites visitors to take advantage of their buy one get one discount tickets available for the second weekend. The winning pictures from the 2007-2008 photo contest, and the prizes won, are posted on the site as encouragement for those who attend to enter this year.
Scarborough Renaissance Festival continues, offering special performances for the hearing impaired with ASL interpreters at selected shows. Discount tickets are available at Tom Thumb Grocery Stores or Austin area Randalls Grocery Stores. Discount coupons are available at participating Long John Silver’s restaurants. Sunny cool weather should make wearing garb a pleasure, but don’t forget the sunscreen.
MedFest, the spring medieval festival held at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, will take place outside the Great Hall on Saturday, April 12, from 11am to 5pm. There’ll be plays and performances by the Pubsingers, archery and battle tournaments, food, vendors, games, and a living chessboard. Turn out and support That Medieval Thing!
Final Thoughts
The Faire News crew won’t be at any of these events *pouting* Instead, we’ll be at home, listening to faire music, uploading pictures, catching up around the house, and wishing we could … see you at Faire!!
