Amherst Early Music Festival, New London, Connecticut

If you’re lucky enough to be in the Northeast, the Amherst Early Music Festival, July 6-20 at the Connecticut College in New London, offers numereous opportunities for an infusion of early music to tide you over until your faire begins. This year’s festival will focus on the music of Germany.

If you sing, dance, or play a period instruments, investigate one of the week-long programs. Amherst Early Music, Inc., offers workshops on various instruments and styles of singing and dancing. The workshops are open to all with no auditions. They also offer some intensive advanced classes which do require auditions.

The Amherst Early Music Festival also includes concerts for those of us who love to listen and an exhibition of early music and instruments. Early instrument makers and dealers, music publishers, and organizations will be on site to share thier wares with the public.
