Renaissance Faire News - Sharing the Joy of Faire, one post at a time at FaireNews.com!!

The "Have You Met?" series introduces you to some of the people who make Faire a joy!

Looking Forward to January 25 – February 1, 2008

Jan 25 & 26

The 22nd annual Hoggetowne Medieval Festival will begin this weekend in Gainesville, Florida. The forecast for the second faire of the Florida season, and my home faire, calls for marvelous garb temperatures (mid to high 60’s) but there is a chance of showers on Saturday. Located in a university town, the faire draws it’s characters from a diverse group including the Barony of An Crosaire (a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)), The Thieves’ Guild (an acting troupe), and the Greenwood Morris Dancers. This will make the 19th year I have attended and I am just bouncing in anticipation.

Market Day at Birka 2008 takes place this weekend in Manchester, New Hampshire, for those of you suffering from RenWithdrawal. Another SCA event, it is two days of shopping in preparation for the coming season. I’ve never been to this event, so would be interested in comments from anyone who has.

January 26 only

A post at RenaissanceFestival.com indicates that Auditions for the Scarborough Renaissance Festival are this weekend, though the drop-dead date to register has passed already. Good luck to all those on the schedule.

January 30 & 31

Food Network – Dinner Impossible: Medieval Mayhem – January 30, 2008 10:00 PM ET/PT and January 31, 2008 1:00 AM ET/PT – Chef Robert Irvine cooks for royalty at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, feeding the king and his guests.

See you at Faire!
