Agoura Renaissance Pleasure Faire revisited

For those of you who can remember the Agoura Renaissance Pleasure Faire, I found a website for the Friends of the Paramount Ranch*. The scanned image of the 1966 Faire brochure is cool. They’ve held a Reunion Picnic and Revel for several years and have pictures from many of the years. That faire was closed before I became a Renthusiast, but it looks like those who join together remember a wonderful event.

*The Friends of the Paramount Ranch website is run by Marc Mangano and has has no affiliation with either “Renaissance Pleasure Faire,” any group or individual currently organizing or operating renaissance-like events, or with the park service or the management of Paramount Ranch.

How marvelous these memories. I wish I could find the recipe to make Banbury Tarts hawked at the fair. I went in costume at age 15 in ’69, and in my own Ruby wine gown with sleeves to the ground in 71,and 74.

In 74 lieu of a ticket, I offered “to make the Fair a fairer place” by giving away figs and flowers I brought in a large basket.

In ’73 went to a Dickens Christmas Faire at Fezziwig’s Warehouse but the real magic was at Agoura. My memories were of the Pacifica Radio days. I still have 2 of the brochures, ’73-Dickens and 71 Renaissance.
